Watching this from webcast, it looked honestly like something you would see in St. Louis! The matches were close and high scoring and the depth of the field was evident by how many blue alliances advanced. Thanks for the show!

We had a great time at the event, just wanted to share some thoughts while they were still fresh to me:

The building/campus for the Crossroads is very nice. There is a mix of old and new buildings and sculpture on the grounds everywhere.

The staff that we talked to were very nice and seemed glad to have us there.

We had a good mix of teams that we play with regularly, teams we haven't seen in a few years and teams we've never played.

This was the first competition that I've ever attended where there were windows/daylight streaming in. It made the indoor arena bright, but the video (scoring) was hard to watch in the mornings.

Like another poster mentioned, cell signals were TERRIBLE. Sometimes I'd have 4g, then 3g, then E, then nothing.. all in the same location. If you walked to the corner of the building, you'd get a signal for a minute and then lose it again.

I felt that seating was an issue - the stands were constantly packed. There didn't seem to be enough seating for teams or for visitors who saw the several billboards on the highway announcing the regional. There were people standing around the upper level all 3 days (during opening ceremonies, I'd guess 100-200 people had to stand). There was literally no location to go and just sit down and relax and watch the matches. They did have a lunch area, but it was at the far end of the pits with no video feed.

I'd recommend multiple seating locations with video feed for next year

Congrats to all those that won awards and to the finalists and regional winners - the competition was fierce in the last group of matches (glad we found a seat to watch it!)

Team 1288 would like to Thank Alan Anderson for volunteering and being available to help teams during the competition. We had a crisis right after the 1st QF match in which he was especially helpful.

Just came off the field, changed the battery, as usual, powered on, no com!!! Oh no, slight bit of panic set in. Started checking everything, cRIO, Bridge, netbook, time is ticking away.... Saw Alan nearby and pulled him in, and just having someone with his background available to go over everything was priceless and calming. Quickly isolated it to the netbook, Ctrl-Alt-Del Restart, and after an painfully long time, it came back up, robot was good with green lights on the DS!!!

FIRST FRC Team 4028 had a great time at the event. The coordination with the community was very impressive. The volunteers were all cheerful and helpful. Best MC in the country. The hosts were very accommodating and always gracious; as mentioned in a previous post, it was apparent that they were very happy for us to be there.

Appreciated Dean making the effort to attend and share his encouragement.

Congratulations to all of the award winners and best of luck to all of those teams and individuals who earned a spot in the Championships.

Finally, thanks to our alliance partners FIRST FRC Teams 48 and 1038; tremendous effort against a very, very strong alliance. It was so much fun to run with "old friends".

I really appreciate the thanks. You're all very welcome.

The venue was amazing. I think it could easily handle spacious pits for 60 teams or more. The arena seating is limited enough that 50 is probably a good number, though. We also completely filled the cafeteria seating for the Friday team dinner. Twice.

Team Roboto 447 had a great time at Crossroads, and would like to say thank you to team 1288 and 1756 for helping us reach the finals. We had some problems there, but that is just how an FRC competition goes. Congratulations to teams 868,234, and 1646 on the win along with 337 on Chairman's Award. I am glad to know that because of all of the wild cards, everyone in the finals is going to be going to the Championship event. See everyone there.

In addition to those, 1501 wants to congratulate our friends on 447 for an incredible showing at Crossroads and year. Leading the #6 alliance to finals, opening wildcards for 1756 and 1288 (after winning Queen City), Dan Newby for winning Woodie Flowers, and Colin Hartman (c_hartman_00) for winning Dean's List is something that we are jealous of. If it wasn't us, we're glad it is you.

Congratulations to 3947 also on their semi-finalist finish. We know we have an upcoming powerhouse for Indiana in a few years, and we're always glad to help our friends when time calls for it.

1501 is disappointed in how our season ended, but not our performance during the regional. We had worked tirelessly to ensure that our robot would be one of the best shooting robots in the field as much as possible, and we are excited to be recognized as that. The students on the team has been one of the most incredible groups I have ever worked with (coming from someone who had come from a different team prior to 1501). The results just doesn't show it.

Also, I'm the only senior on this team.

I posted this in a new thread to say thank you to everyone that helped make the Crossroads regional an amazing experience, but also wanted to make sure I posted it in here to make sure our sincere thanks are communicated to as many of you that attended Crossroads as possible.

"First, the Roboteers had an absolute blast at the Crossroads regional this past weekend and are definitely hoping to make a return appearance in 2014. Hats off to the planning committee and all the awesome volunteers. Incredible job from start to finish and it definitely didn't seem like a rookie regional, at all. Everything ran super smoothly and the venue was amazing. Bravo!

Second, we would like to congratulate the winning alliance of 868, 234, and 1646. You guys were an absolute force and it was an honor to have our great season end at the hands of your sword. No doubt in my mind that you will all make some serious noise and turn heads in St. Louis. Also, special congratulations to our local Peoria area brethren: 1756 for punching their ticket to St. Louis with a well deserved wild card spot on the finalist alliance, 2081 for winning the engineering inspiration award, and 4143 for winning the judge's award (Mantis!). All very well deserved and the Roboteers will be rooting for all of you who will be competing in St. Louis!

Third, team 2481 would like to give our most sincere appreciation to every team at the Crossroads regional that gave the greatest exhibition of gracious professionalism I have witnessed in my 5 years worth of involvement in FIRST. For those of you who are unaware, our robot, Optimus Climb, took a devastatingly brutal, somersault fall off the top of the blue pyramid in the final seconds of semifinal match 2. Our robot was severely damaged in the fall and required us to call a time-out prior to the deciding semifinal match 3. Immediately after the fall, I was swarmed backstage with offers of assistance in multiple forms (parts, tools, manpower, etc.) from more teams than I can individually identify when playing the scene back in my mind. I wish I could remember and publicly thank each one of you individually because you definitely deserve the recognition, but the scene was so intense and we were flooded with so many people offering their help in such a short time span that it's become a complete blur of compassionate faces. Thanks to all the fast acting, hard work by our alliance pit crews and those myriad of supportive forces, we managed to get Optimus pieced back together in driving order to play the defensive match of our lives as the timeout clock was counting down to zero. In a moment that will forever give me goosebumps, as our drive team was rushing our robot back out onto the field just in time to play match 3, it seemed the entire arena rose to its feet to give us a roaring standing ovation! At this time, team 2481 would like to give our own standing ovation to each and every one of you! Thank you all for your support and for giving us an unbelievable season-defining moment that none of us will ever forget. We felt like absolute gladiators out on that field, giving it everything we absolutely had in the most critical of moments, and coming up oh-so-short of achieving the ultimate upset. Couldn't have asked for a better end to our incredible season that didn't involve a blue banner.

Lastly, the Roboteers would like to thank our incredible alliance partners from 1741 and 3947. You guys were awesome and we would definitely jump at the opportunity to work with each of you again in the future. I felt like we worked like a well-oiled, collaborative machine in elims and my only wish is that I would have been able to keep my strategic mind clearer in the midst of the match 2 aftermath to pull the trigger on 1741 busting out the full court shooting for semifinal match 3. I've wondered if that could have been the surprise trump card to offensively offset our lack of climbing ability due to the damage sustained in the fall to get us to the finals. Regardless, both of you played a big part in allowing us to get our robot back onto the field in time for match 3 and we obviously would have never even made it to that point in elims without your collective offensive prowess and ability to flawlessly execute the game plan. Best of luck to you guys in the future and the Roboteers will be cheering you on whenever and wherever we see your numbers moving forward!"

1038 had a great time at Crossroads! We enjoyed competing and dancing with all of our friends. We will definitely be signing up next year. My only hope is that the cell service gets better

A big thanks to 4028 and 48 for being great alliance partners. we were scoring machines, but just couldn't pull it off.
