Excellent Regional Wrap Video

This video was produced and presented at the 2013 Oklahoma City Regional, and is one of the best wrap videos I have ever seen. Those of us in attendance were blown away that it was done so quickly and so well. An excellent promotional piece for FRC.

Re: Excellent Regional Wrap Video

This must be something OKC produces each year. They also did this in 2012 when we attended. Their media team is amazing to put together this great video over the course of the weekend.

Re: Excellent Regional Wrap Video

They did a great video last year that I used to help recruit this year. OKC is a great regional. The venue is fantastic, plenty big, lots of room for pits, not too much walking. It seems like it really caught on this year for good reason. If it had worked with our schedule, we would have been there. That said, we had a blast at the inaugural Razorback Regional.

Here is the link to last year's video in case you're curious:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXhlkqnTIzg

Also, they did an amazing job of having match videos up on YouTube within a couple hours. It made scouting and coaching a lot easier!

Uh, I think you're mistaken. I dunno if it's still this year, but both years we went (2010 and 2012), we were given a 10x15 pit. That's not lots of space, that's EXCESSIVE space! Cox Arena is amazing as well (it's a little dark though), that's about the only complaint. Great seats and also great places for food close to the arena. Oh yeah, and absolutely amazing teams
(SHOCK WHAT?)

The event takes place on top of the hockey ice, we were told the lighting and ambient temp. are kept very low to prevent melting the ice. It was quite chilly down on the playing field. After siting on the field through opening ceremonies, the robots were cold to the touch. Good for electronics, not so good for greased transmissions.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that fact. That would make sense for when we were there. Instant water game anyone?

Credit where credit is due: http://smithpixels.com/. Andrew and Adam have done a superb job for the last five years, and I really look forward to seeing their work every year.

Yeah... For the first few years (before there was ice under the floor), I would always wear shorts and a T-shirt. This year, I was wearing pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and a sweatshirt, and still freezing. Maybe that's partly because I was running the webcast rather than frantically competing with a robot.

Re: Excellent Regional Wrap Video

Incredible work.

I have produced videos and I can't believe this was a "wrap" video.
Producing such a high quality and informative piece in such a short time blows my mind.
The syncing of the cuts with the music and the mild use of speedup is totally professional.
Excellent storyboarding.
Getting just the right quotes at the right time from the students is...I am running out of superlatives.

Re: Excellent Regional Wrap Video

I wanted to do something like this for WPI or CT regional, but I never got the chance to get all of the shots or the interviews. But man, this is beautiful work.
