PWM cables type

Hi CD,
This year my team moved from using only jaguars to victors and talons.
We had a problem with the victors and the talons PWM connection.
In the talons, not all the PWM cables fitted in the connection, I don't know why. It seems like the talons has different connection shape.
In the victors, we had to take the cables in and out many times until it worked.
Most of our PWM cables are from the KoP's.
Is there a specific PWM cable type we should use?

Re: PWM cables type

All of the KOP PWMs should fit. Iirc, (I'm not by a talon right now) but the talons are slotted so the PWM only goes in one way. As well, victors have a tighter fit around the male end but it's unfortunate that you can insert a PWM both ways into a victor.

Re: PWM cables type

I'm not sure what problems you had with the Talons... all of our PWM cables fit in them without any issues.

Victors, however, can be tricky. The way it's assembled, it's pretty easy to insert the PWM into the housing and miss the actual connector on the circuit board. Thus removing and inserting it several times until it magically works!

Same here, we didn't have any trouble with KOP PWM cables this year. But regular hobby (R/C) male ends didn't fit too well into victor 888s or talons. I remember "adjusting" the hole with a big screwdriver to make it a little bigger and that seemed to fix the problem. But having a tight fit isn't a bad thing either when ramming or getting rammed by other robots.

Re: PWM cables type

For your talon problem, only the cables from the KoP's fit.
For your victor problem I'm not sure, just try to put it in gently.

Re: PWM cables type

Every PWM cable I've worked with fits the Talons fine. It's designed to be a slightly tight fit so they don't come loose easily.

Some RC type cables have an alignment tab that's designed to make sure the cable can only be inserted one way. The VEX cables (the entire Vex system actually) has this feature for correct alignment. The Talon has a slot for this alignment tab, the Victor (at least the 884, I haven't checked the 888) does not have a slot. I usually cut the tab off with small side cutters when I need to insert the cable into a Victor. The KOP cables (at least from this year) did not have this feature and should have fit the Victors.
