FRC: "LABVIEW Run-Time Engine" Error

First off, I want to say that I do not use LABVIEW for programming purposes of any kind, yet I'm still having this issue.

I'm the honorary Programmer of my team (1691). While competing in the FRC regional up in Calgary, Canada, our old-school Classmate was having numerous issues that I've been since trying to solve. One of them dealt with the Driver Station and cRIO Imaging Tool not working. This also happens to be the issue I'd like to get answers about.

This is a link to a similar version of the error message I was getting ("SW-V.2.8." is a program that I don't use, nor have I even heard of, so replace it with "Driver Station" or "FRC cRIO Imaging Tool 2013")

http://forums.ni.com/ni/attachments/...Capture222.JPG

The error message comes up only when I try to run either of the aforementioned programs. The volunteers on-site who were helping me out had no idea what the problem was, but one of them suggested installing the LABVIEW program from the starter kit. Like I said, though, the Classmate PC my team has is an antique, and has a huge hard drive of >10Gb. I have yet to do install LABVIEW, but if you guys know if that will work or, if not, what the solution is, please tell me.

As always, thanks for any and all help you can offer.

Did you Image your Classmate at the beginning of the season?

Re: FRC: "LABVIEW Run-Time Engine" Error

Sounds like it doesn't have the right version of LabVIEW, or no version at all required to run the DS and imaging tool.

After installing the "Driver Station Only" (or whatever it says) thing on the LabVIEW disk that came in the KoP, download and install the LabVIEW Utilities Update followed by the Driver Station Update.

There's also a few other updates to other things (Bridge Configuration Utility, cRIO Imaging Tool, etc.) found on the 2013 Technical Resources page.

Hope this helps.

Re: FRC: "LABVIEW Run-Time Engine" Error

I've seen this many times.
That message will typically occur when a Driver Station is more than a year out of date and you just install this year's Driver Station Update on it. The new Driver Station depends upon the LabVIEW 2012 Runtime, and you're running last year's version.

There are several solutions including the two that have already been mentioned.
My preference if you have the time and space on the Classmate, is to install from the KOP FRC LabVIEW disk.
A third quicker option that I use when I encounter this at competitions is to just update the LabVIEW Runtime Engine 2012.
