Isn't this a dangerous strategy?

Great strategy!! If your accuracy is high and your drive train and drivers are good enough to avoid blockers then you will go far!

I wish we were in the same division! The three-robots-making-the-FIRST-logo picture is priceless, with your triangular bot, our perfectly circular bot, and the robot that was an exact square. :sigh: Good luck at Champs!

Re: 1425 FCS Pyramid Run Teaser

Interesting and very well done. Two questions:

1. Why not just go for full court shooting from the feeder station?
2. What do you do if someone is climbing on either pyramid?

Great job!

Re: 1425 FCS Pyramid Run Teaser

We can shoot from the feed station. This is our plan B if we get blocked.
Also, if there are opponent climbers we won't use this due to the risk of giving them an automatic 30 points and we will work with our alliance partners to make sure no one is in our way. If all else fails though, we can shoot from pretty much any where in the back court and can load from both feeder stations.

Re: 1425 FCS Pyramid Run Teaser

Excellent work!

Before everyone goes questioning this strategy, I suggest you go watch some videos of their amazing performance at the Central Washington Regional, and it might give you a better idea of why they're showing off this capability.

1425 is one of the only full court shooters that can get displaced from the feeder station and STILL make shots. Their drivers are very good with the holonomic drivetrain. They were able to successfully shoot around 84" tall blockers in competition by maneuvering out of the protected zone.

Can they be hit by a defender? Sure. But then the defender has to leave their post blocking the feeder station area, or the opposition has to double up defense. 1425's drivers have no fear of getting displaced from the feeder station because of their ability to shoot from practically anywhere else on the field. All full court shooters are designed to shoot from the protected zone, but 1425 is also extremely adept at full court shots from elsewhere in the back field.

Re: 1425 FCS Pyramid Run Teaser

Interesting that while shooting they are also blocking the opposing low pyramid shooter, whether they intend to or not. That shooter will need to be capable of taking a severe pounding.

I beg to differ. Due to our vision and our automatic adjusting our turret angle, with our machanum wheels, we can move in any direct and still be able to shoot. We've drive straigh forward along the edge of the field, and shot 4 frisbees into the 3 point goal going full speed.

Well, what's to stop a blocker from ramming any team that tries to shoot (that doesn't shoot directly under the pyramid or from the feeder station)? The best answer I can give is that we'll have to out-maneuver them and possibly shoot while moving to prevent the blocker from getting into position.

However, this is just my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of our drive team.
