Re: Championships: Live Thoughts and Updates

Well now time to shed the light. By the way, Tom Nadar did not say the team name of either match (as he was elsewhere), but I do write out the name broken up by words for every game announcer and walk them through how to say it correctly,

So prior to the 2011 season, the team had grown unhappy with the team name and felt a change was in order. The original plan was for some kind of acronym name like HoT or RUSH. So the process began with writing all kinds of words on the white board. When we couldn't decide where to go from there, we said, "let's just use them all and make one long name." I believe it's a total of 77 characters.

We did not think FIRST would allow such a long name when we submitted it, but they did and so we kept it. We actually really enjoy the name. We never shy away from the endless askings of how to say it. There have also been no regrets to the change.

We do though use the name "Extreme Eagles" when needed. It was actually used during the live MSC boardcast on DPTV.

Sometimes it's fun to be different. If there are any more questions about the name or robot, please feel free to PM me. I'll be happy to answer them.

After seeing the damage they wreaked at St. Louis regional, I would believe it.

Re: Championships: Live Thoughts and Updates

I think they are counting autonomous points into their 150 and they also could have shot the colored discs which would give them 51 shots

Hmmm, as one of the teams on that alliance, I'm very, very confused by the 150 point claim...

So was this "Make it Loud" Award that was given to Will.I.Am described in any way? I'm interested to see if they're going to make this a thing or if it was a one-time deal.

That's awesome! Did you plan on changing what name it says your team is on this site?

150 - 18 (autonomous) - 10 (hang) - 20 (pyramid goal) = 102 points in the high goal during tele = 34 discs in the high goal during tele

Re: Championships: Live Thoughts and Updates

Here's my recap after two days of Canadian teams and their achievements.

On Curie, 4814 has gone 7-0 and sitting in third place, a mere 14 AP behind second. 2056 and 1310 are sitting in fourth and fifth, each going 6-1, separated by 4 AP. 3990's close behind going 5-2.

Galileo has 1114 seeded second and 610 in fifth, both also going 6-1, separated by 20 AP. 4334 is sitting in 8th, going 6-1 too. 1241 is nipping at their heels in 11th going 5-1-1.

Newton didn't see as much Canadian success on the field, with 4476 seeded the highest at 25th, but Kaley Bibic from the Waffles(4476) won Dean's List!

Archimedes hasn't been too kind to Canadian teams, with 1334 the highest ranked all the way down at 29th, but with impressive teleop scores who knows where they'll rank.

It's no mistake that of the 10 teams listed here, we have 7 regional winners, 2 finalists, and an RAS. This is the best of the best of Canada shining on the world stage.

Is anyone else hearing a really loud rumbling in downtown St. Louis? Because the Cardinals' game is over, I don't see anything else that could cause it.
