Re: NEMO turns 10 at Annual Meeting

NEMO is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! We started out with three FRC mentors from different parts of the country and have now expanded to include over 700 registered members, a private forum, and a website with a resources page filled with mentor-written white papers. There were numerous local NEMO meet and greets around the country this year at regionals, off-season events and local trainings.

NEMO (non-engineering mentor organization) is open to any adult mentor and is filled with both technical and non-technical mentors.

Please join us at our annual meeting, Friday, April 26, 2013 from 10am to noon on the 2nd floor of America's Center (Rm 255), St. Louis. We're looking forward to hearing your suggestions on what direction NEMO should go in the next decade.

Mentors are welcome to come and go as your schedule dictates.
Please, no students at this meeting.

See you there.
~Jenny and Kathie

Re: NEMO turns 10 at Annual Meeting

Thanks to all who were able to stop by the Annual Meeting.
We were honored to have Dr. Woodie Flowers and Dennis Howland (Volunteer Resources Manager) drop in and talk about the important work all the NEMs on teams are doing.

Today I registered the 800th member.

Website: http://www.firstnemo.org/ Busiest month since keeping statistics: March 2013 with 16,266 requests for pages.

Goals for 2013-2014 (and we are going to need help from the NEM community):
-To increase informational outreach to all mentors in FIRST, especially through social media.
-Redesign of content, photos and “look” of NEMO website.
-To update existing white papers on the Resources page on www.firstnemo.org
-To identify an “umbrella” 501(c)3 to accept NEMO as one of their programs.

We have been asked to prepare a white paper on NEMO which is in the works.

We will also be looking for a few small grants/in-kind donations to fund certain efforts.

We want to thank all the interesting and passionate mentors we've met over the years in NEMO. You are amazing!
