FIRST community favorite, Dave Lavery, and his Mars Science Laboratory team recently picked up two prestigious accolades.

The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) awarded the Mars Science Laboratory team with the Collier Trophy last week. The Collier Trophy has been presented annually since 1911 for “the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America”. You can find more details here: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?release=2013-158.

Dave and his team were also named as finalists for the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal in the Science and Environment category. This medal is presented to a federal employee for a “significant contribution to the nation” in their field. Winners will be announced on October 3rd. More information is available here: http://servicetoamericamedals.org/SA...m/lavery.shtml.

Congratulations, Dave and team! Thanks for all you do for the space program and for FIRST! Good luck in October!

I’ll blog again soon.

Frank
Congrats Dave and team!
