Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge

Hello everyone,
Team 1241 recently got their robot back from worlds. With some spare time on our hands, we decided to create the Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge. If anyone is up to take on the challenge, our current record is 94 feet. See if you can top it, post your video below.
Thanks guys, have fun and good luck!

Here is our video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFc2t2pA27M

Seconded. Day 1 at the Washington DC Regional, they misfired a shot straight up and it almost hit the ceiling. It was the most frightening shooting mechanism I saw all season.

I think our 70 mph shooter needs to make another appearance....

At Davis we were able to shoot discs out of the arena.... from the field at the bottom through the entry doors at the top of the ARC Pavilion

Re: Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge

It seems like the deal is to shoot it into a goal from as far away as possible.

I wanna see 2485 go to town, they had a scary shooter...

3173 is in. Our 8 pound shooter wheel seems perfectly suited for this sort of thing. I will get a video once we can get out to the football field.

This is us shooting at about 50% power http://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2013nyro_qm47

620 has one of the most powerful shots I've seen, 67 also has a pretty powerful shot too.

Re: Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge

If it was judged by total distance traveled by one shot, 1503 would have a good chance. Their shooter doesn't shoot the farthest, but they shoot 4 at once. So multiply their distance by 4, and thats a lot of distance for one shot.

2337 can shoot 2 at a time. In order to beat 1503 in by this system, they would need to shoot at least twice as far. In order to beat most teams, they would need to shoot over half as far. Beating 1241 would mean at least 47 ft shots for 2337 and at least 23.5 ft shots for 1503.

The Engineers shoot from the back corner of the pyramid into the 3pt goal. However, chances are that they can shoot accurately from farther away. Now, shooting 47 feet? Maybe. They would probably need some adjustments, but should be able to do it.

Spartonics, in order to beat a 94' shot would have to shoot 23.5'. They shoot from the front of the pyramid. Shooting from much farther away and their disks would start to spread out more and miss the goal. I don't see it likely for them to launch nearly half field shots and making all 4 in.

So, in conclusion. 2337, and other dual-shooting robots, could probably win this contest if measured by total distance of all disks in a given shot. They may or may not need to do modifications to get there, but it should be doable. However, 1503, although would do well, would fall short because not all their disks would make it if they were as far back as they need to be to win.

Good luck to everyone as they try and shoot their frisbees the farthest.

1503 typically shoots halfway between the front and back of the pyramid.

I'd love to see the distance 4069 can get on their shooter. We almost received a present from them to our pit when one of their shots misfired in a qualifier at Waterloo.

Re: Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge

Hm... we were doing some shots under a heavy headwind condition last Saturday, and we were hitting about 10 feet up on a tree 70 feet or more away.
We just need a calm day and an open football field.

Re: Longest Frisbee Shot Challenge

If 2337 can double their distance by shooting 2 at once, can my team call a misfire where we shoot 2 at the same time as double distance?

At IRI we were shooting at about half power. We can easily do 75 feet with a pair of banebots on the shooter(banebots was how we shot fast at IRI) and even further with a CIM on our shooter.
