Best way to learn LabView for FRC?

I'm interested in learning Labview to at least assist our main programmer next year. We only have one, so the more, the better. I know rudimentary things with regards to labview, and I've taken a few programming classes using other languages, so I have a basis of knowledge. What would be the best way to expand my Labview skills, specifically with regards to FRC? Are there books or websites on the subject?

And though it is a bit dated, frcmastery.com is good if you mostly want to watch videos.

The way I personally get people up to speed in LV is to get them to reprogram a project they recently completed. Say, something from a senior design class. That way they know the problem well, they are familiar with some milestones in the solution, and are mostly learning the tool. If you have a similar app that is strictly PC based, it allows you to do it on just a laptop.

The next step would be to program the robot in the simulator, then on the robot itself.

i always recommend http://team358.org/files/programming/ControlSystem2009-/LabVIEW/ for learning labview. It has many different examples of robot code for practically every task that would need to be programmed.

The best way to learn is to fail. Aka, experiment.

Also, http://team358.org/files/programming...2009-/LabVIEW/ that was posted above, was a great resource for me when I was learning Labview (halfway through a season!). Try mixing some of their examples together and like I said, experiment.

Make a testbed with a basic control system, with a few different kinds of motors, relays, and sensors, so you can test out your code.

I know NI has a good LabVIEW YouTube channel with a pretty good intro into LabVIEW itself. This coupled with FRC Mastery and general experimentation is what I used to learn the language. Also, learning to use the little shortcuts (e.g. probing wires) that are available in LabVIEW and not other languages helps to debug your code and to increase your skill in quickly identifying where a problem is occurring.
