#2 3489 - CatEgory 5 - Winning the Peachtree Regional included beating out the wildly successful teams like 624, 4552 (1771's reincarnation), and 2415.

Third is somewhat of a tossup..teams like 1319, 342, & 1102 all built fairly solid machines. However...

#3 4452 - FIRST NOBLE Team - was the only other team to attend world from SC due to their RAS at the Peachtree Regional and you can't ignore that they also went undefeated in the quals to end up pairing up with 624. It was a shame to see that alliance have technical difficulties when it mattered most.

Someone can throw out a number if they think I missed someone who performed better.
4451 and 3489 are absolutely 1 and 2 this year, but 11th seed at Orlando is a pretty big booster for 342 to eke out #3. Could argue it either way--hopefully both 342 and 4452 will make it to SCRIW so we can settle this once and for all.

177 - Again a great 3 disc autonomous as well as a reliable climber, however what really made the Bobcats such a lethal team was their ability to cycle with such accuracy that you don't find in some other tall bots, but they could also full court shooter with extremely high precision when they needed to as well. Not to mention that I can say through experience that they are a very gracious team to work with as we played with them in eliminations of one of our offseason events.

230 - This team has consistently built great robots that are always a threat to be contended with, they have a great 3 disc autonomous, are a phenomenal cycler, could block full court shooters (which unfortunately we had to run into a few times ), had a 20 point climb which was rare in other robots. They also use a Mecanum drive train, which even though Mecanum receives a lot of bad rep they were able to use it to their advantages which gave them a whole new side to be lethal with.
Well, I almost agree with you.... obviously your being generous by not putting your team on the list... In my opinion
195- great full court shooter, can cycle when being defended and shoot from anywhere.
228 very very fast cycler, with an amazingly smart drive team also has last second climb.
Then I would say 177 for the same reasons,
Honorable mentions: 230,and 2168 they where both very very good and could easily be put into the too three.
Conneticut had a lot of good robots this year

67: Very accurate FCS, effective cycler if needed, 30pt or 10pt hang (30pt can dump)
While there apparently isn't any argument as to the actual top 3 for Michigan, I'd like to give some bonus points to 1918 for greatest potential. They about as close to having it all as any robot I saw all year, though the end result was that every facet of their game needed work.

As mentioned, 3539 and 2054 were very good. 1718, 245, etc. are worth shouting-out as well.

And my reasoning for having Shaker at 2 regardless of not winning an event was because at BAE they lost to the eventual world champion 610.

These are just my thoughts, you really can rank the second or third robot to whatever you want this year. The only absolute for NY is that Team 20 was by far the best as they usually are.
I gotta say, your definition of "best robot", Evan, is very interesting. Definitely unconventional. I find it extremely unfair to say the best robots are the ones who win events. My team, 1405, captained the Finger Lakes winning alliance (captains of 3003), but I would never in a million years say we were the best robot at the event, or one of the top teams in NYS for it. Many fantastic robots do not win events.

For New York, I would propose the following:

20: No contest here, 20 is hand down one of, if not THE, best robot from The Empire State. An incredible cycling robot, with a capable floor pick-up as well. With the improvements they had at IRI, I would have considered them one of the stronger robots at the event, were is not for unfortunate issues.

1507: One of the top NY teams from 2012 was off to a shaky start at FLR, with a half-functional floor pick-up that they wasted a little time trying to make work. But come Buckeye, the magic kicked in, with a more than decent +3 auto, and a cycling ability that dominated the tournament. Were it not for them having to bow out in Finals 2 due to technical failure, I would have bet on them as winners.

3015: Ranger Robotics has been such a strong team the past few years, but this year, they nailed it. #1 seed at FLR, #5 seed and Finalist in Virginia, they were truly a force to be reckoned with. At FLR, most thought them the sure-win, until they met the dominant defense of 48 and 1126.

I totally agree with you. There were a LOT of good teams in CT last season. There are just so many teams that can be named in the top three; we would need a top 20 list to get all of the strong robots on the list

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

For Washington DC in my opinion:

1. Team 2900 - Had a working autonomous, could consistently shoot in the middle goal, cycle and 10 point climb THROUGHOUT the whole tournament (made a working pool noodle blocker by the end of the tournament as well).

2. Team 2914 - Had an effective high goal shooting autonomous once the quarterfinals started

3. Team 2912 - Had an effective pool noodle blocker for full-court shooting robots.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

Minnesota (not fair since there are so many teams):
2169 King TeC - most consistent FCS I have yet seen. They also shoot discs from the highest possible point, making defense on them a nuisance at best. No big deal you say, just stop them from getting into position. Good luck. They have an incredible shifting drive train. They can climb for 10 like the best of them, but usually don't because they can score more with discs.

2175 The Fighting Calculators - 5-disk auto, guaranteed 4-cycles, can drive circles around defenders, then climb for 10.

2512 Daredevils - FCS to rival even 2169, consistent cycler, ingenious ground pickup, 10-point hang. They've got it all

Honorable mentions:
3018 Nordic Storm - Creativity award at Champs for their 50-point climb/dump.

2705 WE ROBOT - 18 in autonomous, 2 cycles, then a 3rd level climb in every match they played. They surely would have advanced further in every competition (Lake Superior, 10K Lakes, MSHSL State Championship) if they wouldn't have had to play us . Definitely one of my favorite robots to watch.

You are too modest. We of course mustn't forget 2052, with a dead simple machine and a deadly combination of speed and flexibility. You guys easily outcycled us any day, and your flexibility to shoot full court when open really killed by the state championship. And a solid, buzzer beating 10pt hang to boot.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

I'll actually do the state next to mine, instead of my own. Off the top of my head, judging from Bayou and Razorback -

MIssissippi:

1421 Chaos - 30pt climb + 20pt dump with some 1pt dumps. They were one of the most consistent climbers and I believe one of the best climbers at CMP. They won Razorback with 1477.

456 Siege - Solid cycler with great vision tracking that won them the 'Innovation in Controls Award' at both their regionals

1927 Tempest / 364 Fusion - Pretty good shooters with 10pt hangers.

Minnesota
1) 2052 - Wonderful cycler, full court shooter and 10 pt hang. 2502 by sure dominated in all Minnesota events, and won Lake Superior, 10,000 Lakes and Minnesota State Tournament. My favorite robot in Minnesota, they were by far my favorite Minnesota team to watch and play against.
2) 2169 - A great full court shooter and made it all the way to the finals in Galileo.
3) 2512 - Another great full court shooter and cycle.

Thanks for the love, guys.

Based on their consistent scoring at SC and GA, I'd have to cast a vote for 1319 Flash in the top 3.

I can't personally make it to SCRIW this year, but Hugo III will be there, hopefully better than ever. I'll be with you guys in spirit

Another team that does well each year. They had a full court shooter.
I would put Crescent Valley (Team 955) in there as well this year. They were a great cycler and won the Portland Regional.
