Re: 225 Rubik's Cubes and 6 Swartdogs
525 has a really great collection of dedicated mentors, so it's excellent that the students decided to do something cool like this to surprise a couple of them. Anybody who finds themselves at the same event as 525 should take the opportunity to chat with any of the people from 525. They are really nice people who have a ton of useful knowledge, and of course they are also quite passionate about FIRST.

Bruce,
This is really cool! A fitting tribute to some great mentors as well. Congrats to 525 for thinking way outside the box (as usual)! |

Re: 225 Rubik's Cubes and 6 Swartdogs
The cool part is that this was done entirely by the students. From the idea that they wanted to do something, to the planning and execution, to keeping it a secret until just before the event, and holding back some info on just what they were going to do. It was really quite effective at drawing people into our booth at the fair - to talk with the students and learn about FIRST.

Re: 225 Rubik's Cubes and 6 Swartdogs
Did they use algorithm for each pattern on the cube?

Re: 225 Rubik's Cubes and 6 Swartdogs
I don't know the software they used but, they first digitized the pictures into a 45 x 45 grid (15 cubes with 3 squares per cube.) Then they approximated the colors with colors available on the cubes. They printed out the image on 9 sheets of paper which each had 5 x 5 grids. Each student worked from one of the sheets and solved the cubes to match.
