We are getting better every year, so I expect us to get there sometime soon.

I heard at various points throughout the season things like "1310 has our shooter" from people on my team , so I was under the assumption that we gave our design to 1310 in a similar way to how we borrowed much of 188's design in 2012. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Also, we didn't even have a piston to stop the discs until the championship.
We only had a zip tie that was cut to a very short length. It stuck out a bit from the top of our shooter, and it was enough to do its job. We had to change it every so often, though.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

I have to say team 3310 definitely should be one of the top bots in Texas. They had a consistent 30 point auto with 5-6 cycles and a 10 point hang. Also Apple Pi has been a great bot the last three years and are in the top 5 for CT.

You decide the order.
Thanks for the mention.
I think 379 is #1 almost without question.
As for us and 128, it's a tough call (and of course I'm biased). 128 has better accuracy all around and was a stellar cycler from day 1.
Our robot had lower accuracy at the regional level but was eventually fixed at champs. Our floor loader gave us an edge as well.
I'm also not sure if 128 ever crossed the six-cycle line (we did at CORI and IRI).

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

My evaluation for New York is probably going to be a bit off, seeing as we competed with only a small fraction of New York teams this year. 2791 is excluded from this for obvious reasons, though their robot is related to 229/4124.

1. 20 - Probably the easiest call in this thread, 20 was far and away the most competitive New York team this year. They can't human load, and until IRI they basically only scored from the front of the pyramid, yet 20 knew exactly how to play to their machine's strengths. Even after their two regional wins, they kept improving and adding tricks such as a pyramid shot, front corner shot, and a four-disc autonomous mode.

2. 229 / 4124 - These simple yet effective human-loaded cyclers were not always consistent, but at their peak they were absolutely lethal. 4124 nabbed an early Week 1 regional victory, while 229 very nearly upset the Boston winning alliance in the semi-finals. Both were capable of putting up 60+ points in a match, despite being taller than 30". If it weren't for scorched earth on Curie, I'd be willing to bet 4124 would have been playing on Saturday afternoon at the Championship.

3. 694 - A lot of teams could go here, but 694 put up a lot of points fairly reliably, performing well at both of their regionals.

Honorable mentions: 4134, 3044, 3015, and 250 are all smart, well driven robots that while not always consistent could put up big numbers if you weren't careful. 3044 in particular was adept at switching from offense to defense at the drop of a hat, playing well with what they had in the Archimedes division. 4134 only had one event to get their act together, but they were good for 3+ cycles each match in the CT elims and walked away with a silver medal.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

2056
1114
1310
All literally incredible, I don't even think an explanation is required (just look at the IRI seeding).

but an honorable mention definitely has to goes out to the world champions!
1241 and 610 built incredible machines.

Also team 1334 built a sweet robot that was always fun to play against
(coolest climb to watch also!)

There is definitely going to be some entertaining competition happening in Ontario, in the coming years.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

Hawaii teams!!

359 The Hawaiian Kids 3 disc auto, 10 point, high scoring, overall dependable for the most part except for maybe one or two matches

2504 The Governors 0-3 disc auto, 10 point climb, by far the fastest shooter at the Hawaii Reigional, but did have trouble feeding discs to robot.

2090 Buff n' Blue (Punahou Robotics) 3 disc auto, 10 point climb, good feeder, consistent shots, did break down in the finals match of Hawaii Reigional.

sadly team 368 did not compete this year but i feel they would have been a competitive team as past years have shown

I was at both South Carolina and Georgia..competing at one and volunteering at the other. Flash had a large number of matches where their their shooter jammed or they couldn't find the mark on the goal and missed a lot of shots.
Now...I thought Flash had the most potential to be the best bot in SC and contend to to take out 11 or 245, but it never came to fruition.

Like I said 1319 is a honorable mention for 3rd in SC, but I just don't think they beat out 4452.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

I believe someone has already picked this identical order, but for Minnesota, I would have to say:

2052-- KnightKrawler's machine was magnificent to watch, winning them two regionals plus State Championships and putting them in eliminations at Championships. Far and away the best cycler in Minnesota, they drove their mecanum drive in a way that wasn't just impressive on the field, but was also a joy to watch.

2169-- I think these guys were the best known team in Minnesota this season, thanks to their fast and accurate full court shooting and simple design. Watching them drain almost every disk in a last ditch effort on the Galileo field while everyone else was waiting on Einstein was easily my top moment this season.

2512-- A jack of all trades, I saw 2512 pick up off the floor with their ingenious sorting system, full court shoot, cycle, and climb for ten all season, all on an octocanum. Really fun to watch and effective.

Honorable mentions:
2705 had a unique and effective (if a bit slow) 30-point climb that was one of the only effective ones in Minnesota.

3313 was an excellent cycler with some technical problems-- plus bonus points for their super-simple design and awesome outreach (I mean, they basically put up how to build their robot).

2177 would have been top three if they had been more effective on the field-- their thirty point climb and dunk was brilliantly executed, but just not enough.
