robotics how to paper

ok i am writing a how to paper for my english class and i am doing it over repairing an andymarke super shifter gearbox mounted to the 2013 kit of parts frame but i need responses from frc team mentor for supporting evidence for the paper so i was wondering if anybody can help me and explain what is the easiest ways to detect and identify problems with in an andymark super shifter that has stopped working what would be my first steps of diagnostics so i can use this in my english class.

Re: how to for gearbox's

I mean no offense by this, as English may be a second language for you, but even new members of Chief Delphi are encouraged to use proper spelling and grammar in their posts. While you don't have to write perfectly (heck if I ever do), on this forum, you will most likely get more replies to your questions if you write out your posts properly.

Additionally, please don't create multiple threads for the same question. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...99#post1290599

You can find a lot of information on Chief on this topic by using the search tool at the top. If you don't find what you're looking for, make a decently written post on here, with an appropriate title. Again, I'm not trying to be harsh, just letting you know what will yield better results.

Welcome to CD, I hope you find the information you're looking for!

Re: robotics how to paper

I'm not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for but generally the easiest way to see that it is not working is if you notice your robot is not shifting. For example, if you shift from low to high gear and there is no noticeable speed change. Upon further, closer inspection you can check and see if the pneumatics are functioning properly (or servos?).

I would also assume that Andymark has something posted about this as well on their website and if it is not posted but they have it you could probably obtain it quite easily with an email. Since this is for an english class, it would also count as a direct source and would probably help your grade on this assignment.

Re: robotics how to paper

Not sure if spam... but, if not, there are many references that you can find to see how the super shifter is made.

If you'd like to reference how the Super Shifter is built, here is a PDF containing the layout of the shifter itself. If you disassemble it and realize that it was assembled improperly, that could be part of whatever problem you're having.
