Talons/roboRIO - Waterproof?

Hi all,
I seem to recall hearing somewhere that the Talons and/or the roboRIO are waterproof. This sounds far fetched to me, but I wanted to hear from the community for confirmation.

From what we've seen so far about the rRIO it would not be water proof.

The talon's case is not sealed so it is unlikely it would be water proof either.

The Crio is not waterproof. The seal kit that was available was intended to keep debris from working it's way into the internals but still was not waterproof. The Talon seems to be sealed but I have not heard it speced for immersion. The outside power connections and PWM would not meet 'waterproof' definitions.

If you mean "waterproof" as in you can operate them underwater, without putting them in a waterproof compartment, NO, they are not waterproof.

They are slightly water resistant, meaning that they probably will still work if you accidentally splash a little bit of water on them.

Everyone spends so much time imagining water games. Before that ever happens though, FRC will probably incorporate some non-conductive liquid.

Some options:
de-ionized water
mineral oil
vegetable oil
milk
melted wax
syrup

The problem is that most of these substances become contaminated easily. Yes, of course in DI water there would be no shorting, but imagine 2 days later after everyone's greasy gearboxes have churned through the water for eighty-something matches. It would not stay pure for long.

Also, I think a compressor would have a physics-related malfunction while running in any kind of liquid immersion.
