Go to Post I think the best driver team of the post season would be Mike Wade and Pete Baltzell- because they have been driving that NASA field all over the Northeast so all of us can play. Thanks guys!! - Wayne C. [more]

Gearbox

Hey, this does not really pertain to the competion, but I have some very powerful 2500rpm 12v motors, and i need a gearbox to get them down to 100rpm. It doesn't matter if it is preassembled or just gears but any advice, suppliers, etc. would be highly apreciated. Thanks

Use one gear with four teeth and one with 100
or you could do 5, 25, 125.

Just do the math. Its pretty easy. There are tons of combinations I haven't mentioned.

More than likely you won't use those ratios, but you can get sprockets, chains, etc at your local bike shop.
As for gears? I'm not sure. But yes, you could use sprockets and chains instead of meshing the gears

yes, you are correct, but prehaps I was unclear in my request. i am more looking for suppliers, or actual plans for such a gearbox. Thank you though.

Check Chapter 15 of the MSC catalog that came with your kit of parts for this year. Look under "speed reducers" and "gear drives." If you don't find what you need, at least check out the vendors listed there (Boston Gear, Perfection Gear, Browning, etc.) and follow up with them.
