Serial Shortening

Is it legal to cut the serial cable connecting radio to the RC and shorten it? I thought I saw a rule that said it was legal to shorten/lengthen some wires, but I can't find it now. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't go to the trouble of actually cutting the cable, I would just get a shorter one or tiewrap the slack or something...

Clearly, if I had any sense at all, that's what I would do. But instead, I feel like creating extra work for myself. It's not like I don't have enough work already, it's that I behave in nonsensical ways. I'm compelled to cut the serial cable to make it the perfect length. The manual says it's acceptable to shorten/lengthen Control Cables with 3 conductors or fewer such as PWMs as long as the connections are insulated.

It is illegal to cut these cables as they contain more than 3 wires. You either have to zip-tie them into a little bundle or make your own from scratch.
