[FTC]: Help With AutoDesk Inventor 2012 ?

Hi,

I am trying to "trim" a standard Tetrix ipt part file, a "long axle", in AutoDesk Inventor. Does anyone know how to do it? Do I have to modify the .ipt file directly? Or can I just chop off the piece I want to remove from within my .iam file?

Here is a pic of my assembly. I want to "trim off" the part of the long axle that's sticking out on the left top...

thanks
