Re: [FRC Blog] 2014 Game Hint

can you imagine how convoluted the game hint could be if the GDC used 24 hours of the CD hive mind to come up with it?

The CD hive mind is kind of like the English majors in this XKCD: http://xkcd.com/451/

Smile Re: [FRC Blog] 2014 Game Hint

Going with the idea of baseball and the 25% weight reduction, going from a softball to a baseball is a 25% weight reduction.
A softball can range in size anywhere from 6.25 to 7 oz. The largest weight I found online was 7 oz.
A standard Major League Baseball weighs between 5 and 5.25 oz.
So if you take the largest possible size of the two balls, 7 and 5.25 oz. that is EXACTLY a 25% weight reduction.
So could this mean we must score both baseballs and softballs into goals? Or maybe we'll play baseball with specific softball rules? I'm not familiar with softball rules, they may be the same as baseball. Anyway... this is too much of a coincidence to just pass up.

I like that concept! Many rules about softball are the same with baseball, with some exceptions with leading off and some other rules. That's a very interesting concept, similar to FTC 2012-2013, where some rings were different weights.. Where we could have softballs and baseballs, where the baseballs have to go into one goal and softballs have to go into another

Re: [FRC Blog] 2014 Game Hint

Or perhaps softballs are the endgame but have special rules. I've followed baseball for a while and yeah, the rules don't differ very much except with regards to pitching (baseball is any way you want, softball has to be underhand) so maybe there's limits on how we can launch the balls?

What if the softballs have to be thrown with some sort of appendage? Instead of wheels..

What year was there a 90 pound weight limit? Going back to the discussion pages ago, they might be bringing back that game.

There hasn't been one that low since at least 1996, possibly back to 1992. Not even the tallest robots in 2006 were that low (100 lb for a 6' maximum starting height).

Re: [FRC Blog] 2014 Game Hint

After a lot of confusing math and research
I have a come to the idea that we may be playing water polo this year.

Many results showed water or things relating to water
There was also a few soccer relations

Not to mention the weird doctor who references, but my point is
I believe it's water polo
Anyone else getting this?

I found this on the Ri3d (robot in 3 days) Facebook page. It's basically the CD hive mind in a nutshell.

Re: [FRC Blog] 2014 Game Hint

In case anyone hasn't noticed, Andy Baker is playing baseball with a side of last year's kit bot (I Think) in his video from Ri3d. Game hint? It fits with some of the latest talk in this thread.

Andy knows as much as anyone else in this thread about the next game; he's in the same group as all of us. If anything, it's him playing baseball, and that's it.

Hey guys,

check out this link below; it offers a ton of analysis and it appears to be a "water game" (most likely not with real water).
