Help w/ a Research Paper concerning a Dean Kamen statement

Hello fellow Firsters, I'm hoping you can come to my aid! For English class we had to pick a world problem and solution as a hypothesis for our research/persuasive papers. Anyways, the one I have to do (my other 2 choices got 'shot down') is (yeah I kinda stole this from Dean Kamen..) "The only way the world will become a better place is if people stop being recipients, and start to contribute something to society by becoming educated". now, this is kinda silly.. we had to state a possible solution in our society, so I just thought of that... anyways, is there a certain word(s) that will help describe that kind of situation I stated above?? I'm really having a hard time finding anything on this topic, and I'm afraid I'll have to swtich it. Thanks to everyone!!

If everyone puts more into Society then they take out, then society as a whole will have an abundunce of....of well whatever has been put into it.
