Re: 2014 Rules Changes

Vertically, any extending parts going higher than 5 feet can only be extended in the Goalie Zone and must fit within a 6" vertical cylinder. Horizontally, you can extend 20 inches normal to the edge of any frame perimeter member. Height doesn't matter as long as it's under 5 feet. I have just read the rules but I do not remember anything limiting how many extensions are out at one time. |

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
The six-inch cylinder rule only applies to vertical extensions.

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
I'm still in disbelief over this one, even after re-reading the rules and ctrl+f searching
The ridiculous Cv limit on pneumatic solenoid valves has been removed entirely |

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
By Cv limit, do you mean flow rate? If so, this is big.

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
A quick search found this valve:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#6425k12/=q4ehnb 1/8" inlets with 1.0 Cv. Last years limit was .32 Cv. |

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
Has no one yet said that matches are now 2:30, not 2:15?

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
For a $130 each, would the improved performance really be worth it over a mechanical solution?

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
I think that it is just an example of a valve that is no longer illegal, not the best option. Also, what sort of mechanical solution exists for a small flow coefficient other than a larger flow coefficient?

I meant mechanical over pneumatic.

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
During the autonomous period, do we have to start with the ball within the frame perimeter? Can we set it next to the bot and program the robot to pick it up?

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
I suggest reading rule G5, and telling me what "touching" means.

Re: 2014 Rules Changes
Touching: arousing strong feelings of sympathy, appreciation, or gratitude. Kind of like New Math. How you feel about it is more important.
