Update #7 states that teams should make their electrical power connections to the motors' preattached wires. Can we connect the pre soldered wire directly to the speed control, or do we need to use a 10 gauge wire to do so?

You don't have to extend the wires if you don't have to. You may connect the presoldered wire to the speed controller directly
