M7 solenoid fittings

While searching for solenoids on AndyMark, we were unable to find any references to the 1/8 in NPT port diameter mentioned in the game manual, only M7 fitting connections. Do these connections meet the 1/8 in NPT requirement?

I would think it would be legal since AndyMark sells it. But the way to be sure is to email frcparts@usfirst.org & ask if it is an metric equivalent to a 1/8 port.

That's a dangerous assumption when FIRST changes rules. For example, in 2009, AndyMark continued to sell non-legal wheels (that had been legal in previous years).

I hope that someone can find the relationship between the M7 fittings and 1/8 NPT.

The OD of 1/8 NPT is .405", M7 is about .28" you're probably okay. But it's good to find out for sure.

So M7 Fittings are in the KOP. Usually items in the KOP are legal to use on the robot, and they try to not put illegal items in the KOP.

I knew that rule was somewhere, I just couldn't remember if it was a general rule or just a pneumatic rule. So yes they are legal based on that.

Which is why I suggested emailing the contact listed in the rules to verify metric equivalence.

As Mike pointed out M7 thread is smaller than 1/8 pipe so it should be a no brainer. It would be nice to have it in black & white for your friendly robot inspector though.

Festo never really provides the Cv of its valves. The only reason why they were unquestionably legal in previous years was because the where KOP. It did not make similar valves from other manufacturers legal.
