Does it have to be airtight? Have you considered ventilation ducts?

Re: gun barrel

Are you sure you will be able to produce enough cubic inches of air to launch the ball?

Re: gun barrel

Well, then, have you looked for circular ventilation ducts in that size?

Re: gun barrel

If it doesn't have to be airtight than why not just make one?

Re: gun barrel

not sure if the material matters but maybe look around for concrete forming tubes, quick search shows that sonoco makes them in 26in if you can find a place that sells them

Re: gun barrel

A piece of material, say 1/16 lexan, cut at 82.68 long and rolled into a cylinder, with a 1 inch overlap (for fastening together) will give you a cylinder with about a 26 inch ID.

Re: gun barrel

Take your 60 gallon barrel and cut it down one side, take what ever amount you need out of the side then weld the two back together again (assuming you have a welder to use)

Re: gun barrel

very good ideas. I would want to use a plastic barrel so I would have to solvent weld weld it and I don't have the equipment.
I like the lexan idea I had thought something like it earlier with plexiglass but plexiglass is too rigid and the overlap would be a problem. I like that concrete forming pipe idea the best. any other ideas

Re: gun barrel

Pardon the insouciance - my first thought on reading the thread intro was "now there's a REAL job for a 3D printer!"
