Need to know.
I've just recently purchased a laptop, and I looked very closely at the specs to make sure it could run the student version of Inventor.
I just need to make sure that I made the decision of purchasing this new laptop with the correct assumptions and whatnot. Here is the link for the exact laptop purchased: http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/hom...C-ENERGY-STAR- Let me know of anything you see that might be problematic! *UPDATE* I based this off of the 2014 version, not the student version. Sorry ^.^ Last edited by Austin1018 : 08-01-2014 at 16:29. Reason: Forgot the link, and had an update. |

Re: Need to know.
From what I can tell, it should run Inventor 2014 just fine.
The only thing I don't like about it is the Hard Drive. 1TB is big but 5400 RPM is quite slow. A SSD would be much faster for opening and saving files, and longevity due to the lack of moving parts. That can most likely be upgraded at a later time, but for now, I think you'll be happy with it. |

Re: Need to know.
There is a very active thread discussing this topic.
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=123528 As always, I direct teams to the recommendations posted on the Autodesk Inventor site. My concern when looking at this question is does the graphics card meet the requirements? I will take a longer look at your proposed purchase and give some feedback. |

As far as the Graphics card goes, I don't think I will be running Inventor at max settings. If I do, I know what the chances of it crashing are. My school's CAD computers have trouble with Inventor on max settings, so I know how well that would turn out for this laptop. Thanks for the tips and concerns! ![]() |

Re: Need to know.
I have a HP Pavilion with probably the same hard drive in it. I can run Inventor just fine, but loading files and programs and booting up takes forever. You might be able to latter swap out the hard drive for a SSD.

Re: Need to know.
I run Inventor 2014 on a 2008-spec Dell Latitude D830 configured thusly:
. win7 amd64 . Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M . 8G RAM . 7200RPM 500GB Seagate HDD with 8MB RAM It takes a while to start, but editing is fine. I suspect complicated assemblies might take a while to load. |
