Team 2363 drive train

Here are some photos of our assembled drivetrain. Bellypan with wired electronics should be attached tonight (if we don't get snowed out.) Weight, as shown, is 34 lb 8 oz. We base the drivetrain on the superlight chassis, from team221.com, in the short configuration. Last year we used their gearbox plates and Andymark innards for a two speed shifting transmission. This year we are trying the two speed ball shifters from VEXpro. Wheels are 4" colsons, on hex hubs from wcproducts.net. Frame perimeter dimensions are 27" long x 28.5" wide.

Items of note:
- These gearboxes are significantly quieter than last years.
- This is the second year we've had QC problems with the rails from team221, requiring rework to enable assembly. While we like their design, even a cursory visual inspection of the parts before they went out the door should have kept us from getting bad parts. We figured that last year was an outlier, but having it happen two years in a row makes this worthy of mention in public.
- We add holes on the top and bottom of the frame rails on 1" spacing. These are sized so they can be tapped for #10-32 threads. This makes later attachment of the belly pan and any scoring mechanisms much easier. A standardized interface allows development of mechanisms on a practice bot, then transferring to the competition bot at competition.
- We also drill multiple sets of holes for the bumper rail support brackets, for flexible placement. These can be made tall to allow for further superstructure possibilities.
