Using two Large PAPST Fans?

may a robot use two large PAPST Fans on this year's robot? We would like to use them to cool the robot. We have one from this year's kit and last year's kit. Also, do the fans hook directly up to the circuit breaker? Thanks

I believe FIRST anwsered this recently. You can use any number of fans for cooling purposes.

Super Dave,
Everywhere in the docs where fans are referenced the singular form "fan" is used for the EBM and the multiple "fans" is used for the smaller fans. Although I can find no other reference, I would go with just one fan. Besides the weight is pretty high on that larger fan.

EBM is the new manufacturer name after merger with Papst. EBM is a german company from Mulfingen, GMBH. Their US headquarters are in Farmington, Connecticut.

All Fans hook directly to a 20 amp circuit breaker. The same breaker can be used for all fans. I even put the speed controllers fans on the separate fan breaker. My thought is that if you pop the 40 amp breaker on the motor you should probably still cool the speed controller and you are saving .5 amps that can be sent to the motor.

Not a bad idea! Add a little weight in wire for stable, independent cooling. Cool!

I am assuming you just always have the fans running but isn't there a rule somewhere that states that you have to hook the fans on the speed controllers upto the inputs of the victor or something like that?
Something about it always being on if there is power going to the unit.

Your link is bad, but taking the &trange=15 of the end fixes it.
