Re: pic: 4242 2014 CAD 1

Thanks for all the replies! So, with a few poles at 60", we'd have to be within about 3' of a robot shooting from 18' away from the goal using a system that launches from 7" off the ground. Definitely doable. However, now I'm concerned that if we block a shot, there's a decent chance of it landing in our ball-box, costing us 50 pts. We may have to design some kind of articulating arm to prevent that...

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you immediately knock/propel the ball out of your box you should be fine- I thought that was the interpretation on the rules. Also, there is a good chance of the ball bouncing out. Just a thought

What rule would that be?

Re: pic: 4242 2014 CAD 1

This one:

3.2.3.4 G12

An ALLIANCE may not POSSESS their opponent's BALLS. The following criteria define POSSESSION :

A. “carrying” (moving while supporting BALLS in or on the ROBOT),
B. “herding” (repeated pushing or bumping),
C. “launching” (impelling BALLS to a desired location or direction), and
D. “trapping” (overt isolation or holding one or more BALLS against a FIELD element or ROBOT in an attempt to shield them).

Violation: TECHNICAL FOUL per instance.

So if you release the ball right away and do not drive with it in you (prevent A) and you do not throw the ball far and just roll it/pop it out (prevent C) then you should be fine
