Tips for sophomore/inexperienced teams submitting Chairman's?

As a second year team, we have yet to experience giving a Chairman's presentation. FIRST has some tips and tricks available, but I'm wondering if anyone's got some extra little hints or pointers. We're aware that our chances of actually winning are incredibly slim, but we still want to do the best we can.

Re: Tips for sophomore/inexperienced teams submitting Chairman's?

There's lots of good help out there (example : http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2869). I recommend looking at previous winners (worldwide and regional) and seeing what they do well (and what mistakes they make).

My team (FRC 2486, the CocoNuts) have been holding weekly Google + hangouts with other teams to talk about the awards and any questions. If you're interested in joining us for that, PM me and I can get you the information for next Saturday's meeting.

This is my 4th year presenting for FRC1511, and honestly, the most important thing is to have fun with it. Enthusiasm goes a long way, and if you're able to effectively convey your passion for your team to the judges, then you're well on your way to being very successful.

Re: Tips for sophomore/inexperienced teams submitting Chairman's?

Get as many eyes on it as possible. Parents, students, mentors, people from other teams, get as much feedback as you can.

Also, submit a day or two before the due date-- the tubes tend to get clogged around noon on due day...

Following Mo's suggestion, a little bit of enthusiasm goes a long way-- it can make long editing sessions fly by.

If you'd like a pair of eyes, PM me and I'll give you some feedback.

Good luck, and see you guys in Duluth!
