Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
He may mean they only have two octocanum modules? That way the first set of wheels (probably mechanum) don't shift and the wheels in back do. I'm also sort of confused by what he means.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
Or maybe he just means that they're going with mecanum.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
But he states that they're using traction wheels. |

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
I think he means that they're using Two 6 inch traction wheels per side. I think the "similar design" that he was referring to is in the shooter and pick-up mechanism, not necessarily the drive train.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
Seriously none of this helps. Clearly no one has any concrete idea what he's talking about, which is why I asked him to expand.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
And so the mystery of the two traction wheel octocanum continues...

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
or would it be a sextacanum? If he is actually talking about having only 2 traction wheels

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
From the CAD drawing, it looks as though only two of the traction wheels are powered. Also, two of them appear to be smaller than the others. Perhaps that is what OP meant?

That was in response to zinthorne, not the OP.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
There are four ball shifters with 1 CIM an 1 mini CIM powering the drivetrain. Mechanums need to be individually powered to make full use of their strafing abilities.

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
Wow, Octocanum modules and ball shifters? That's quite a bit of weight! How much weight are you guys ball parking?

Re: 4265 2014 competition bot render
![]() The tension design wasn't really cutting it, so we changed to a much better pneumatic version. Full 4k can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ition%20v2.png Also, Solidworks is showing weight at around 115 without battery and bumpers, although a few things do not have accurate weights. |
