Go to Post I've been inspired for real engineering during the build season and on the playing field, but the inspiration I found in the pits is often for creative thinking and intuition. - artdutra04 [more]

Place your attention entirely on my voice and try to ignore all the others. It is important to be able to focus on a single source of information while blocking out all the other things competing for your attention.

I really like the electronics. Great job on their neatness. What does the autonomous mode look like?

Our autonomous is based on wheel counts. We have 2 Banner sensors on each side that count using white pieces of tape on the wheels. The paired sensors allow us to tell if we're going foreword or backwards. We had a pretty slow but effective up the ramp program, plus a couple others. But the best thing about our autonomous programs are their names. My favorites are Stealing Babies and Operation King and I, even though neither got programmed due to time constraints and some drive train problems at SBPLI .

Nice, do you have a read-out on your controls to let you know if you are going forward/backward? And how long does it take you to get to the top or carry out your "Operation King"

No we don't have a read out on the controls, it was mainly just for autonomous mode. Operation King and I wasn't programmed, but it was supposed to have us waltz through our opponent’s scoring zone .

Maybe during the off season we'll overcome laziness and program it. Maybe we'll get to show it off at Frosh orientation... I'm sure they'd love it. Then we could video tape it and amuse everyone here .
