Question CIM vs. Drill motor

I've noticed that a lot of the veteran teams are using the CIM motors. I am wondering why. I thought the drill motors were more powerful than the CIM motors. The relative mode I'm comparing is the low gear setting on the drill motor w/ clutch setup vs. the CIM motor w/o any gearing. Are the CIM prefered because they do better under autonomous contitions since they are stepper motors, or is it simply a matter of the CIM putting out more torque than the drill motors?

No, I refuse. Wait, what? Did you say chicken and cheese? Alright then...
