Arrow SC Upstate Scrimmage

2003 marked the fourth annual SC upstate scrimmage.

Some interesting observations-

-Within several hours of practice matches not a single bin was stacked on top of another bin by a robot. The only stacked bins that ever counted as a multiplier were ones stacked by the human players.

-Autonomous mode is extremely unpredictable on the colored (meaning blue or red) carpet. We had our autonomous period down pat on the gray carpet we used for programming but, for some reason, the colored carpet caused problems.

Great showing and an excellent job by teams 1102, 1069, 415, 281, and 803.

Brian

i agree

stackers are going to have a rough time accomplishing their tasks. sometimes it just seemed like a box bashing session. one match was spent almost completely on one side of the playing field.

does anyone else have any input from their scrimmages? did stackers actually get anything stacked during a match? how did king of the hill actually play out?

The majority of the teams will just be 'bin pushers' in one form or another. There will however be a few robots out there that can stack EXTREMELY well. Those teams are the ones who will seed first and pick the ultra king of the hill bot to win the competition.

How fast were teams making it to the stacks on the ramp?

I think the time it takes will vary a lot. I think the quickest we will see is 3-4 seconds, but most will take 5-8 seconds. Although from my observations, those first 3-8 seconds decide the entire match.
