Defensive and passing team

Are their any teams that are planning on being a strong defensive team and passing team? If so what are you doing? If not what are looking for in a team like this? what would make the most perfect Defensive and Assist bot?

Re: Defensive and passing team

Are you referring to a robot that primarily performs in its near zone, inbounding balls to the team and then playing defense on the goal, or something else entirely?

Re: Defensive and passing team

For a 'Defensive Assist' bot some things that you'd probably want are

1) A fast collection system - If you're going to assist you're going to want a system that can gather the ball fast and shoot it out to your partners fast so they can get the ball quickly.

2) Proven defense - any team with a drive base that moves can technically play defense, you're gonna have to prove that you're the team that specializes in defense, in qualifications you should consider showcasing these abilities by shutting down a highly offensive team, teams with good scouting will definitely notice that. Also if you do intend to be playing a lot of defense I'd suggest making your robot rugged and also giving it a strong drivetrain.

Are you planning to go home early? You probably won't have to worry about getting picked for eliminations using the strategy above.

All fixed now! Thanks haha passing to your opponents is probably something you should avoid

Re: Defensive and passing team

95 is making a robot capable of the 'defensive assist' role. See build thread here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=124625

Two-sided ground pickup/ejection to quickly pick up and pass the ball.

Large catching mechanism to accept a ball from an inbounder without driving away from a robot we're defending.

2spd automatic 6wd with colson wheels + roughtop tread-covered brakes mean that we're fast and hard to push, and most importantly we're not stressing our drive-train to resist being pushed.

We would like to show off our defensive abilities again this year by shutting down a power-house scorer, it is definitely the best way to get noticed. I have a feeling Damiaen's example is him remembering us last year during Hartford CT qualifiers...
