Stripping Threads on Gear Box

I would like to ask has any team had the aluminum piece that screws into the drill motor strip its threads. The reason I am asking is that we have gone thru the ones that FIRST shipped and now we have stripped one of the ones that our machine shop made for use to replace the bad one. We have used Locktight in the piece but it seems that as we drive the robot that when we put the motor into reverse that we are back drilling and it trys to unscrew itself. Could we be putting the piece on. Our next step is to JB weld the piece to the drill motor and make it so it cannot come off without breaking the drill motor. Please comment because we are frustrated as we are so close to having a nice driving robot.

I am assuming that nobody has had this problem. How many people are using the drive mounts that are in the kit of parts and are they working correctly.

why not put 2 pins through the coupler and the motor output shaft, put one pin and then another 90 degrees from that one

There are two reverse threaded allen screws that screw into the inside of the aluminum piece to keep it from un-screwing.

Thes screws came with the original kit and you may not have noticed them. They are left hand thread used in the drill to keep the chuck on. They are essential unless the motor is only run in one direction, that which would cause it to tighten.

I will look for these screws in the morning. This will save use from having to use JB weld.

Do these screws go into the hole on the aluminum piece. Is there a pdf on where it goes?

Our came out also even with the screws. So we drilled it and used roll pins.

There is no documentation that I am aware of. Once you have all the parts in your hand, it should be clearer. (I think all of us are assuming you are using the FIRST drive system.)

Easy hear is what you do put the coupler on the drill motor then there is a little hole in the middle of the coupler put the screw there and tighten it.

Our came out also even with the screws. So we drilled it and used roll pins.

That is odd our drill motors did not come apart with the screws.

I was able to quickly find the screws and install them this morning. Everything seems to be holding very well. Thanks for everyones help.

for some reason our screws kept falling out, and we fixed it with a very thin washer.... not sure why that worked, but when we did it, it seemed perfectly reasonable, so there must have been some actual inteligence used...
