This is typically how we do it as well. I have also wired it through flat Cat5 cable before, particularly when we have a large array of solenoids, but then terminate the cables with the festo clips on one end and a pwm connector on the other (only using 2 pins). Also, you mentioned 24v, so remember, you need to supply 24v power to your module from the PDB! I've see 24v solenoids running to a 12v supplied module one to many times!!!
