Hand Drawn Storyboard?

It is really close to the deadline now, and we were thinking about the animation submission rules - They say we are supposed to have a storyboard, noting: "use #3 pencil or softer" - does that mean we cannot use printed out computer-drawn pictures (not the real rendered animation frames, but the sketches made in Photoshop, etc) for the storyboard? We were using a script with some computer sketches instead of a full storyboard for the animation, so we dont really have a hand-drawn version.

Personally, I'm not going to try them and their rules. If I were you, jot down some quickly drawn storyboard, dont worry about it (it isnt judged) and submit it. That way you're covered.

Soukup is on a distinguished road
i read something about this somewhere...but I can't remember where

ANyway..it say that they want the pencil so that it is visible and that pen or computer printed storyboards are okay...but why jinx it. Hand-draw it and you'll be safe.

Storyboards and pencils

I replied to another thread to answer this question, but I'm not sure how to cite another thread, so I'll repost it here...

On the subject of the #3 pencil, we were planning on non-pencil (computer-generated) storyboard. So I wrote to Autodesk to ask them if they really meant ONLY #3 pencil, or if that meant "if you use pencil, make sure it's #3 or darker" (for reproduction). Autodesk promptly replied:

*****
Hello Mike,

You are totally correct: *if* you do your storyboard in pencil it should be #3 or darker. The idea is that it be reproducible. Dark marker sketches or printouts from a computer/web storyboard are both acceptable.

Looking forward to seeing your entry. Best of luck.

It may have been obvious to others, but we had a discussion on the team as to whether it was really required to be in pencil or not. The answer is "not".

Oh cool, thanks for the offical ruling! (Btw..was the "Autodesk promptly replied" sarcastic or did it actually come back quickly?)
