Bag And Tag rules

Greetings from team 5145!

Upon inspection of the bag and tag information, I could not find a checklist or item list containing what was required to be placed within the bag. I am certain I looked over it multiple times, but could not find the answer I was looking for. If I did happen to miss the information, I apologize. With so much going on during the build season and being team captain, I am being pulled in many directions at once. My main concern is what exactly must go into the bag. Do our batteries, joysticks, classmate, and bumpers get placed in as well? What must be placed in the bag?

The ROBOT, minus any subsystems you are still developing as part of the 45lb holdback allowance.

Joysticks, classmate, bumpers, batteries may be withheld separate from the 45lb allowance.

Re: Bag And Tag rules

There isn't a specific list of items to put in the bag, just of list of items or category of items (withholding allowance) that does not have to be put in the bag.

The general idea is to put your robot in the bag along with any parts that you do not wish to be included in the withholding allowance.

Re: Bag And Tag rules

What you're looking for is R14:
Quote:
All ROBOT elements, with the exception of those withheld per R18 (including items intended for use during the competition in alternative configurations of the ROBOT) must be bagged or crated (as appropriate for your event), and out of Team hands by the end of Stop Build Day, February 18, 2014 (refer to the FRC Administrative Manual, Section 5 for more details).
And the associated R18:
Quote:
At an Event, Teams may have access to a static set of FABRICATED ITEMS that shall not exceed 45 lbs. Items made at an Event do not count towards this weight limit.

For Teams attending 2-Day Events, these FABRICATED ITEMS may be used during the Robot Access Period and/or brought to the Event, but the total weight may not exceed 45 lbs. FABRICATED ITEMS constructed during the Robot Access Period and bagged with the ROBOT are exempt from this limit.

Items exempt from this limit are:

the OPERATOR CONSOLE,
BUMPERS, and
any ROBOT battery assemblies (as described in R5-A).
So, batteries, bumpers, and operator console do not need to be bagged, and are not included in the 45 lbs of FABRICATED ITEMS you may bring in.

If you choose to withhold (not bag) mechanisms to continue working on them, please be aware of the definition of FABRICATED ITEMS:
Quote:
any COMPONENT or MECHANISM that has been altered, built, cast, constructed, concocted, created, cut, heat treated, machined, manufactured, modified, painted, produced, surface coated, or conjured partially or completely into the final form in which it will be used on the ROBOT.
It would suck to hold back a mechanism to keep working on it, then bring some spare parts (assuming they are FABRICATED ITEMS and not COTS) and be over the 45 lb limit.

To highlight the answer to the question asked only because it seemed buried:
