FRC FMS Twitter

I know last year there was a post on this, but I haven't been able to find one for this year yet, so I'll start it off.

FIRST ran some matches (not sure what Week 0 event it was for) through the FMS yesterday, and they went through to the twitter account. Here is an example:
Quote:
#FRCWEEK0 TY E MC 8 RF 101 BF 66 RA 319 509 811 BA 3467 125 1519 RFP 20 BFP 40 RHS 30 BHS 15 RTS 51 BTS 11
#FRCWEEK0- The event, like in the past
TY- ?
E- ?
MC 8- Match 8
RF- Red Final
BF- Blue Final
RA- Red Alliance (teams)
BA- Blue Alliance (teams)
RFP- Red ?
BFP- Blue ?
RHS- Red Hot Score
BHS- Blue Hot Score
RTS- Red Telop Score
BTS- Blue Telop Score

I would guess that RFP and BFP are autonomous, but autonomous starts with an A not a F, and the fact that in the example, Red has more hot points than RFP.

I'd like to try to figure this out as soon as possible. Also, if anyone knows when FRC Spyder and/or FRC Tracker will have their 2014 version online, that would be great.

Re: FRC FMS Twitter

RFP and BFP could possibly be Red Foul Points/Blue Foul Points

I found an old white paper that says that RFP and BFP are the foul points.

RHS and BHS in the past this was the reference of the Blue/Red Hybrid Score.

TY and E from 2012 was the reference for match type. The different types were E,Q, and P, for elimination, qualification, and practice

So that would mean BHS/RHS is Autonomous, BFP/RFP is foul points. That sounds right.

Re: FRC FMS Twitter

It seems like everything you would expect to find on the scoreboard at the end of the match. Makes pretty good sense. Why was this on their twitter? so people could mine the feed for their own app or something?

That's what the FRC Tracker app does, so I would assume so.

The TY and E would most likely be connected as Type: Elimination. If you scroll more, the TY is also Q, which would be Qualification.

Having played in the match in question on Saturday, I'm pretty sure the above is the correct interpretation of the Twitter feed scoring in that match.

FYI, the matches were the "Week Zero" tournament held in Merrimack, NH (home of Team #166, ChopShop), staffed by FIRST with the official field and scoring system, as a final test of everything before the real deal at Week One events starting about 10 days from now. It was at last year's "Week Zero" event that FIRST realized they needed to change the rules about human players throwing unlimited frisbees onto the field in the endgame, due to the relentless barrage of human-thrown frisbees at the end of every match. Fortunately, I don't think any such rule changes will be in the works this year!

I hadn't realized that FIRST activated the Twitter feed for the Week Zero event. It's good to learn that they had it going.

The Week Zero elimination matches were pretty intense. Early-day qualification matches at the scrimmage were like ballet - opposing robots shared the field nicely together, with nearly all offense. Everybody gave the opposing alliance space to practice picking up balls and shooting, without having to deal with pesky defenders. I think we had at least one qualification match where our alliance managed to get 3 complete cycles with all 3 robots handling the ball for max assist points. However, as the day wore on, some defense started to get played, and by the elimination finals, defense was full-on.

Indeed, with this now being my 10th year as a drive coach, yesterday's matches were the most physical defense I've seen since the 2007 game (which, by the way, was downright brutal). If a team intends to score in the high goal, they better be able to do it within 1 second of their initial arrival at their shooting position. With only one ball on the field for each alliance, shutting down a ball-handler effectively stops the entire other alliance. The payoff for good defense is huge.

If nothing else, this game will be an exciting one, with lots of physical contact. Durable robots will be very important - no safe zones for shooting, heavy balls falling from the sky, and high-speed robot contact a part of the game!

Actually on second thought, strike the first part of that prior sentence -- durable robots will be essential!

Re: FRC FMS Twitter

I hope that's not the final format for the season. In order to compute the ranking order, you need to know these scoring components:

1. qualification score (2 points for each win, 1 for each tie)
2. assist points
3. autonomous points
4. sum of truss and catch points
5. sum of teleop and foul points

With the test tweets they've been sending out since January, only #1 and #3 are available. Without at least #2, I can't get anything close to the right ranking order since there are so many ties on qualification score.

There are CSV and XML versions of the twitter feed here also, if you don't want to grab from twitter. They update every 30 sec.

Re: FRC FMS Twitter

The CD api that lets you query for a specific team or event is pretty cool. Thanks for letting us know.

For developers writing apps that want to monitor the complete feed to update a database, the Twitter API is very nice for grabbing tweets from the feed incrementally, only getting the new tweets, so you're not downloading the entire feed every time.

The 2013 Twitter feed format

If you want to see the formal 2013 Twitter feed format you can get it here:

http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default...rFeed_Rev0.pdf

It was published under the "Tournament" section of the manual last year. I do not see it published there this year though. About the only obvious thing new is the BHS and RHS and the omission of the climbing componets RC and BC.

These are not hot scores, they have never been updated since 2008. It stands for Red/Blue Hybrid Score. This year it scored normally as autonomous mode. Everything is correct about that data other than its label. Although if you used Cheesy Vision this year, I guess one could argue you were pretty much using a hybrid mode.
