This is a perfect example that FIRST IS willing to listen to teams. I hope all of you remember this when time comes when you have doubts about FIRST's ability to listen to team's situation and making important changes for the teams.

Dig out our cars. They're unrecognizeable white lumps under that huge pile of snow and ice, so first we'll have to figure out which ones are ours.

We might not be able to get into the school until at least Thursday. Our robot is being worked on by a bunch of students in Dave Lavery's garage, but our crate is still stuck in our school shop.

Awesome. We can finish assembling our transmission (and test it! What a novel idea! ), tweak our programming and clean up some of our wiring. Oh! We can mkae our side panels look pretty too!

We can finish. Thankfully.

Not today, though. The four foot tall snow drifts against my car make that impossible. The lack of plowed roads make it dangerous.

This is awsome...we had school off last tuesday for a teacher professional day so we had all day to work...
Then, as other teams from indiana can attest to, on friday we HAD AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ICE STORM THAT SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE STATE AND EVERYTHING WAS BAD...erm atleast thats what they predicted so they freaked and canceled school....well no ice storm and we all went in and worked anyways....

now we get 2 extra days!!!

THANKS MOTHER NATURE!!!

i can forsee our team working on our drive train and giving our drivers tons of time to practice while our programmers write lots of autonomous code!

2 more days?! I'm not sure to celebrate or to cry.

And I thought I would have a life tomorrow...

Thumbs up life

I know what you mean.. I was sort of hoping I'd be able to maybe, you know, sit down, relax, watch some TV, instead of pulling yet another 12 hour day (well, two more, I guess) on the bot...

But we're now doing some stuff to make the robot a little more pretty, and we discovered this morning that one of our speed controllers has suffered an early death, so we swapped that out too.

Also have time to actually practice driving the thing.. and playing with "turbo" mode.

HEHEHe

Since we just packed it up this afternoon we will probably just leave it in the box.... We have had just about 2 weeks of practice.

If the truck can't make it tomarrow it will probably be a sitting duck until it can make it....

We weighed our robot in around midnight last night, and we are about 9 lbs over weight. The only thing that we can do is actually eliminate a feature since the features need to be durable. We had to ditch the variable speed drive. So..... with our extra work time, we are working on getting our 'accessory' item functioning, and working on our drive system.

... bahh, we've been here since Friday. Haven't left, and no school officials have really said anything. The State of Emergency will probably close school tomorrow, and probably closure or delay on Wed. The State of Emergency doesn't scare us... our engineers have been going in and out all day..... no worries.

Red face 2 extra days

*yawn* as I posted in the other thread about the shipping extension, we're probably going to be finished today anyways, so maybe play with it a bit, and pack it up and have it ready to ship on Wednesday. Our poor head mentor, Mr. Stokely, has a cracked tooth, and has been putting off going to the dentist to get it fixed for about 2 weeks now, so he nearly cried when we told him that there were 2 extra days to work, because he's been looking forward to being pain-free for about 2 weeks now. Poor Stokely!

Anyways, 2 days? Meh. I just want one thing now: SLEEP! too many 2 AM 17-hour work days for my liking. Besides, I was looking forward to having the robot gone on Tuesday (I've been trying to re-plan Valentines dinner with a guy friend of mine, who is also in robotics, for a while, and I'm hoping we don't have to re-schedule, again)

And I extend my sympathies to all those who are trapped in school or their workspaces. I'm going nuts here as is, and I'm not even trapped! (well, sympathies also to those stuck OUTSIDE their workspaces)

Angry

We would love to keep driving and tweaking our robot, but one of our teachers insisted that we pack the crate today and ship it tomorrow. So, our 2 days are wasted. Anyone else want them?
