Team 2252 "The Mavericks" Present: Dark Horse

Just released on FRC Top 25 Premier Night. I present our 2014 robot: Dark Horse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IdC...re=c4-overview

Specifications:
Drivetrain - 6WD KOP Frame w/ AM Sonic Shifters (~20 fps high gear, ~5 fps low gear)
Arm - Allows for infinite shot angle positions. It doubles as the pickup mechanism, storage, and staging. Driven by a CIM through a 500:1 custom gearbox. Uses potentiometer for position detection.
Floor Loader - Aluminum rollers on the top and bottom of jaw (urethane cord for grip). Each roller driven by an RS550 through a 16:1 BB gearbox.
Launcher - Linear ram powered by four gate springs (140-180 lbs spring force). Retracted by a "choo choo" linkage powered by a CIM through a 125:1 custom gearbox. Launches the ball from the white line into the high goal.
Catching - Two fiberglass "wings" on either side of the jaw. Top gripper finger opens extra wide. IR retro-reflective sensor for auto catch feature.

Events:
Crossroads Regional
Buckeye Regional (defending champions)
Windsor Essex Great Lakes Regional

Extra Notes:
Very solid design.
Can catch a variety of shots.
Driveteam with 23 events combined experience.
Very fast intake.
Strong grip on ball.

Awesome! You guys always produce top-notch robots and this certainly is another. You should have no problem defending your title at Buckeye.

Is your launcher pneumatic, stored energy, or a combination? I can't tell.

Really looking forward to seeing this thing at Crossroads.

Founding an FRC team as an 8th grader sure wasn't easy, but it was totally worth it.

Our launcher is a linear ram. It is powered by four gate springs (140-180 lbs of force fully drawn). It is retracted and released by a "choo choo" cam and linkage.
