FRC 1806 Robot Reveal

http://youtu.be/5UB9uyb300M

The black competition bot won't be "complete" until Thursday morning at Central Illinois due to some upgrades we have planned for the collector arm. The current iteration of the collector arm can be seen on our unpainted practice bot.

Name: Detonator
Drivetrain: 6CIM/8Wheel (Versa DT) cantilevered skid with VexPro ballshifters. (5/15 FPS)
Shooter: Choo-Choo, RS775 Geared first through a Dewalt drill transmission and then through a toughbox.
Large sweet spot for shooting into the high goal. Can shoot from the forward third of the white zone, and back half of the red zone.
Collector: Polycarbonate roller with plaction tread in a "corkscrew" pattern.
Oh yeah, and we may add under glow for the heck of it.

We drew a lot of inspiration from Bomb Squad's 2008 robot, JVN's Build Blitz robot, and many 8 wheel drive trains from past years.

This isn't even our final form.

Looks like yet another tough competitor for the KC Regional! I like how compact it is. That shot is pretty amazing.

We hope you'll throw some our way at the competition! The Cave Beast is hungry.

Thanks, we tried to spray-can our bot in 2012, but that scratched off way too easily. Powder coat or anodizing is the way to go if you can (Thanks Labconco!).
Can't wait to see you guys at KC!

You know what they say, dynamite comes in small packages. We'd love to feed the beast, though with our shooting arc being so flat it might take quite a bit of precision to pull off.
Thanks for the feedback though, see you at KC!
