3266 Robots-R-Us 2014 Reveal

Team 3266 Robots-R-Us presents our submission for the 2014 FRC game: PREDATOR
http://i.imgur.com/5EjTSAr.jpg?1

Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrBQnMgj3z0

Article on our website: http://robotsrus.org/site/introducin...n-inside-look/

Specs:
Drivetrain:
.105 aluminum sheet metal construction
6WD powered by 4 CIM's and 2 Mini-CIM's
Final speeds of 8fps and 18fps
4in Versawheel DT's
Encoders for auton
Accelerometer to control auto shifting
Red LED underglow (just for fun)

Intake:
2x1in aluminum tubing construction
2.875in BB wheels quickly grab and align the ball
Mini-CIM through a 9:1 Versaplanetary with #25 chain running through the tubing.

Catapult:
Stored energy in surgical tubing
Effective range of 8-22ft with same shot angle and power
"Choo-choo" style linkage to pull down catapult
CIM through 25:1 Versaplanetary with a 18:84 external gear reduction
Encoder to control position

Have plans for a two ball auton.

And yes I know it looks very similar to JVN's build-blitz robot. But in fact nothing is exactly the same, all dimension are different. We feel that why bother coming up with our own unique solution to the game challenge when we can improve on an existing design that meets our needs.

Founding an FRC team as an 8th grader sure wasn't easy, but it was totally worth it.

How concerned are you about defense given the low ball launch point?

I don't think we will face much more defense than anyone else on the field.

Well, if you imitate something, you might as well do a really good job, and you guys certainly did. Good luck in competition!
