The rules say once the ball is completely through the plane, the ball is scored. If the ball goes completely through the plane of the goal why is "we" waiting to light the pedestal? There is nothing in the rule book that states the pedestal should not be lit until the ball is "known to not re-enter the field". The current implementation seems a far from the intent of the rule.

Either way, FIRST needs to update the field (similar to 2012's deflectors under the bridge) to vastly reduce the event of a ball completely crossing the plane of the goal and then re-entering field of play.
