Re: Different assists at different regionals?

Refs don't award assists, they credit possessions. So if Red1 passes to Red2 in the Red Zone, the ref will indicate a possession for both in Red. If Red2 drives into the White Zone, the ref will indicate a possession in White. Same thing with Red3 and the Blue Zone.

The computer then calculates the "best" configuration and awards the assist points if the ball is scored.

But as per the rules, an assist should be shown (meaning, the lights above the goals should be lit up) if a robot is passing the ball to a robot in a different zone than the zone they are in, not passing the ball to robots in the same zone, which is what was happening.

Re: Different assists at different regionals?

The rule manual has a specific example of this I'm pretty sure. If both robots have procession in one of the zones and the robot that receives the ball goes on to score or passes it again, the alliance should still get the extra assist for that first procession. If they both process it in the same zone, they still should get 2 assists. The finalists at GTRW were executing this very well and were able to compete well with their excellent teamwork- I was very impressed by them.

Oh okay, I must have misinterpreted the rules.
