Re: Highest Score Seen in week 1?

Just a quick question- what's okay and not okay to do during a practice match?

Last year when we practiced we sometimes climbed the wrong pyramid (on purpose of course) and we never had an issue, until our last regional, where our poor drive team got yelled at.

Can we just load balls like crazy, or is that not okay?

My suggestion would be to discuss it with the other robots gonna be out on the field. Make sure everyone's cool with whatever. Communication is your friend.

Don't worry about too much, I would just avoid aggressive defense, and committing G40s

That's what we did on practice day at Alamo, we just told the teams and the refs that we were planning to do that. The refs were usually fine with it but they made is stick to the rules for the last couple of hours of the day. (I assume to make sure teams didn't get used to grabbing balls whenever they wanted) I think that other regionals are likely to be similar.

Don't worry about it, it's not an issue. Be prepared for an insane teleop though, it gets very very difficult.

They also let you load more auto balls than allowed. We ran multiple matches we were with someone else and we both ran a 2 ball auto.

To finish this tangent:
There's really no way to answer this question directly, because the scoring for each year is so radically different. In 2013, the World Finals (Einstein) scores were in the vicinity of ~200, in 2011 they were ~100s, and in 2010 the Einstein high score was 22. The potential for 300s in this game make the highest points-on-the-scoreboard game in recent memory, but there's no real apples-to-apples for official points scored across games.

If you want an absolute value, the highest score by any alliance is in 2007.

I believe that the highest score ever made was in 2001. But I don't have the details so I may be wrong,

Sorry, but the highest score all time, by any alliance in any FRC game is 710 points in 2001.

We just missed 260 points in the last finals match when 399 couldn't quite get in the 1 pt goal (and a 10 pt goal would have put us at 269). We did that with a broken cross bar support holding our secondary intake arms that we clamped back together. We hit two "perfect" 60 point cycles thanks to 399 moving for the truss catch. 4161 was key to getting every cycle started off cleanly, which was a problem for every other alliance. I don't think we took a single 10 point teleop shot ourselves during eliminations--399 did all of that. Hugely exciting.

It probably is. I used Insights to check what is the highest score, and it only went back to 2002. Forgot how 2001 also had large multipliers like 2007 (and a few other years) did.
