Question Finger Lakes regional event scouting information

Hi everyone! I am from team 5254 and would like some help with scouting this year. We are a small rookie team, with 8 students and will therefore be unable to gather a sufficient amount of data on other robots. We would appreciate if someone from a bigger, more experienced team would be able to share information with us. We would like to have information on drive trains, shooters, etc. as well as anything you find helpful for your scouting process, like evaluation processes. We would also greatly appreciate any tips you have for scouting, or rookie teams in general. Most of this information will not be available yet, and are basically just looking for someone that will have sufficient scouting information when the competition comes around. Thanks everyone, we'll see you at RIT!

Re: Finger Lakes regional event scouting information

Team 2228 is putting together a set of baseball card-style cards for the teams at FLR. Your team may have gotten an email about that. Getting a set of those would one way to gather at least minimal information about teams.

Our team, 1507, has an extensive scouting system. We're usually pretty generous about sharing data as well. We have a student assigned to each team in each match and a mentor has designed a database that they use iPads to input the match activity into. Introduce yourself to the scouting team in the stands, I think they can help you.

Are you distributing these cards in your pit at FLR?

Re: Finger Lakes regional event scouting information

I don't know yet. I think we just got the email this past week.

I don't remember exactly how they were supposed to work, whether each team gave out their own card, or if it was to be a deck they made available. We were sent a template that we were to fill in, if we wanted to participate.

We always have some sort of scouting info sheet, though.

If we do have the cards, they might look something like this: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/39945

Team 20 sets up our Scouting Constellation at every event we attend. The way it works is a number of teams donate a few scouts for each scouting shift. In exchange, Team 20 gives them the formatted scouting data in our custom-developed scouting program, Gemini.

For more information or if you want to get involved, email our scouting team at team20scouting (at) gmail.com

Re: Finger Lakes regional event scouting information

I plan to continue BETA testing my new DPR formula throughout FLR. I had recently BETA tested at NY Tech Valley, and through only mathematical scouting utilizing data provided by the FMS system, I was able to predict the outcome of all elimination matches at 89% accuracy (the only incorrect prediction being that of my own teams advancement). I also hope in add a trend observation feature to perfect it further.

I plan to provide this data to any team who wants it. It has proven it self effective in predicting match outcome and I'm curious to see how it will do in developing pre-match strategies for teams.

Re: Finger Lakes regional event scouting information

Has anyone found the pit maps for FLR? I've been looking for a pit map on the website but have yet to find any. If anyone can help me that would be great! Thank you!
