Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
624 is extremely excited to be going to Orlando, and from all these programs and other cool things (any match video at all alone is amazing) seems to be very well run and helpful for teams to learn. However, one seemingly off topic question...is the venue the main court of the UCF Arena or is it a smaller or practice court? I.E, is this an accurate image of the venue http://colleges.niche.com/images/sta...492/?v=083ACD8

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
Why am I not in Orlando yet...this has to be one of the coolest venues for a regional I've heard of. Makes it feel so much more like a sport.

The Orlando Regional, in my opinion, is about as close as one can get to the look and feel of the Championships from the venue to the quality of the teams. You can find a site layout and pit map here: http://www.orlandofrc.org/events2014.html From the looks of it, y'all have a good spot. Safe travels and see you in a few days! Doc |

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
Thanks to the Orlando Regional Planning Committee, RoboVisionOD will again be providing “1st Robot Videos … On Demand” for the Orlando Regional this year. Match videos will now be in full 720p HD. A single wide angle lens camera will provide view of the whole field at all times. The HD format will help with scouting and you can keep track of your favorite teams without cut away to other robots. Our goal is to upload the videos within ten minutes after each match completion. A new offering this year is an Android app on the Google Play Store called RoboVisionOD. Firsters can down load the app and watch the videos on their mobile Android devices. You can also check out our website http://www.RoboVisionOD.com to view match scores, stats, schedules and Full HD videos anywhere, on your phone or on the computer. Other non-Android mobile devices, such as iPhones and Windows Phones, should still be able to watch the matches through the website http://www.RoboVisionOD.com
Thanks to the EngiNERDs Team 2337, the RoboVisionOD app is also available for some of the Michigan District events this year. Our goal for the app this year is to provide “1st Robot Videos … On Demand” for the following events: Orlando Regional, South Florida Regional, Southfield Regional, Kettering University Regional, St. Joseph Regional, and Troy Regional. Please download the app and visit our website. As always, please let us know what works and what doesn’t as we continue to improve on the technology. |

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
I really like how they placed the rookie pits right in the center of the oldest teams in FIRST FLA's pits. I don't know how long they've been doing that, but nonetheless it's awesome.
If any teams need anything printed, (black and white only), come by 4901's pit and talk to me. I know I had several teams come by and take advantage of it at Palmetto. I will also print strategy maps out for any team that wishes to utilize them. We love them as they help us form better strategies from match to match with our alliance partners. (Having competed once already I'm glad to let you all know that 4901 has never incurred a tech foul.....ever.) Last edited by JohnFogarty : 10-03-2014 at 17:38. |

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
...secure those bumpers and bring your 'A' game. No safety zones, but those technical fouls will turn a match quickly. This is gonna be fun....see you bright and early on Thursday

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional
Thanks for posting all the great information. Team1421 is excited to be in Orlando this year. Usually our first regional we attend each year is Bayou in New Orleans. This year we get to warm up in the Sun Shine State first. Looking forward to a great competition.

At Orlando, there are only five teams that have competed already this year: 624 (Alamo, Champions, Chairman's, 10-0, 1st seed) 1772 (Palmetto, Quarterfinals, 6-3, 12th seed) 1876 (Palmetto, Quarterfinals, 9-0, 2nd seed) 4451 (Palmetto, Not Picked, 3-6, 53rd seed) 4901 (Palmetto, Not Picked, 3-6, 48th seed) I haven't seen 624 (I suppose their Alamo run speaks for itself), but all four Palmetto-going robots were running pretty well as they were bagged. 1772's has been in good hands since Palmetto, and I know 4901's going to use a lot of that withholding allowance with improvements to the loading mechanism on top of a solid truss shooter. 4451 surely has an ace in the hole to get back to the finals (you never know what's going to roll out of the garage!), and while I don't have a source on 1876, they're right there on the beach and can't be that worried about anything. ![]() |
