Data on Individual Matches

Normally I look at the FRC-Spy section for data on individual portions of the match (auto, teleop, and foul this year). But there doesn't seem to be too much data on FRC-Spy for the Gull Lake competition. Where does FRC-Spy pull it's data from that I can take a look at it? Or is the problem with that data not being correct? If anyone has another source, please send me in the right direction to find it. Thanks!

Re: Data on Individual Matches

FRC Spy pulls from the @FRCFMS Twitter feed. If data is not on the Twitter feed, check the FRC results site. You can access it for other events via the FRC event listings. If you're at an event and not seeing data on the Twitter feed or the FIRST site, check with the field crew at the event and let them know.

That's right. There is data for only 2 Elim matches, 7 and 12, and for only 16 Qual matches:

1,2,3,4,7,12,14,16,17,24,26,29,45,46,55,70

There's only one source, and you're seeing it. The data is incomplete.

Many folks would like to see the Twitter data saved on the local FMS computer* until it can be archived and made accessible to teams doing scouting and for students interested in statistics who would like to analyze the data.

Ask around and see if there's anyone on your team who has any contacts within FRC. Maybe someone can get the attention of someone in the organization who has the interest and authority to make a constructive change.

* instead of being deleted at the end of the event

Twitter is the only data that has foul points for individual matches.

Re: Data on Individual Matches

Thanks for the information! We are very familiar with the FRC Results site. A couple of years ago my co-mentor went dumpster diving because a school was throwing away a projector. We have a 80/20 frame for our pit and that projector last year and this year has been a lot of fun having people crowd around to see the scores of the matches and latest standings. It was really great this year at Gull Lake because we were by the entrance, pit admin and a corner, so we always had a crowd!

Thanks Ether, I see what you mean on the archiving. I may know a couple people and will ask around. I probably should have asked the lead FTA at our event also and he could have made sure the data was getting posted correctly to the twitter feed. (he volunteered as a FTA at a local FTC event we put on last year - as you know it's a small world and it's always helpful to be familiar with people - so it would not have been a problem to ask).

The auto points scored was one of my real reasons for looking because there was some discussion of whether an auto low goal was being scored for hot when it was made while hot. I've got video of the matches showing that it clearly was made while hot, but nothing but the final score so I can't tell for certain if it was counted as hot or not.
Edit start: (I backed calculated the points and our alliance did get credit for the hot points) Edit end

BTW, thanks for the information on previous posts about matching motors of different speeds together. We have mecanum wheels with a vex pro shifting gearbox with a CIM and minicim on each corner. Very very nice drivetrain thus far.

Re: Data on Individual Matches

If there was no internet connection at the event venue, then FMS would not have been able to post to the live twitter feed. Try to get in touch with the FTA that ran the event. He should be able to get in touch with NH and get the data from the event backup.

Not saying you're wrong, but what leads you to believe that a backup of the event's Twitter data exists somewhere?

My only guess would be that FMS must store it somewhere in order to create the sums for the rankings.

Team Standing data (rankings) is created on-site at each event after each match as the event progresses... so it does not require archiving the Twitter data.

This doesn't necessarily mean, of course, that the Twitter data is not temporarily stored locally (at the event). It may well be. But even if it is being temporarily stored locally, it doesn't seem to be finding its way to a central archive.

As stated above, I'm not sure whether the "twitter data" is stored in a format similar to the twitter feed. I am sure that the data used to create the feed is backed up and stored. The reason I'm so sure about it is because step 25 or 26 in the FMS software when running the field is titled "Database Backup".

But, does it say that the Twitter feed data is in the database??
