What are you doing with spent 3D printer plastic?

The Cube 3D printer's PLA filament is described as "compostable". 3D Systems makes it easy to recycle the filament canister (by returning them through the mail), but we are curious what methods other teams are using for the compostable spent plastic material? (For example, the trimmed off pieces when reloading, any aborted builds, any parts not needed any more, etc.) We realize that being compostable makes it more environmentally friendly to dispose of in a landfill, but does anybody have other plans? Thanks
